On this, Shri Krishna told Mother Yashoda that Giriraj also provides us grass for cows from the mountain. That is why the worship of Govardhan mountain must also be done and Indra never even gives darshan, whereas the Govardhan mountain is presented to us in front of us. All the villagers agreed on this point of Shri Krishna and all started worshiping Govardhan Parvat. Angered by this, Devraj Indra got angry. Devraj Indra started torrential rain in Braj to avenge his insult. A flood-like situation arose in the entire village.
There was an outcry from the water all around. To protect all the villagers, Lord Shri Krishna took everyone towards Govardhan mountain. Where he bowed down to Giriraj mountain and held it on his little finger and all the villagers took refuge under it. Seeing this, Indra would be furious. He intensified the effect of rain. Then Shri Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra controlled the speed of rain and ordered Sheshnag to stop the water from coming towards the mountain. In this way, Lord Krishna protected the villagers from rain for 7 days.
Devraj Indra had realized that Shri Krishna was not an ordinary child. Then Brahma ji told Devraj Indra that he is not an ordinary child, he is a form of Lord Vishnu. After this Devraj Indra reached Shri Krishna and apologized to him and stopped the rain. After that Lord Krishna placed Govardhan mountain down. From this day Govardhan Parvat is celebrated every year as a worship festival.
