In 2018 decided that Pakistan would host the Asia Cup 2020. But due to some political issues between India & Pakistan, India refused for participation in Asia Cup 2022. India abstinence from reacting positively to this decision of the council. Asia Cup was hosted in 2008 by the Pakistan, Later Pakistan proposed a change of Venue agreeing to set a neutral location. Authority decided to Sri Lanka host the Asia Cup 2020.

It was then that the Covid-19 hit the globe and it caused constant postponements. The authority decided to stick with the hosts and they kept on postponing the dates in 2022, considering the situation of Covid-19 in the Asian Countries, it was decided that the Asia Cup will be held. The authority fixated Sri Lanka as the venue for 2022 Asia Cup.

Asia Cup Cricket Match Schedule 2022

Total six teams will play in the Asia Cup Tournament 2022, Out of these, but 05 teams are selected by the authority. Authority has clearly said that only 05 teams shall be Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Those team will play in Asia Cup Tournament 2022.

The other team that will add to the list will be winner of the Qualifiers for the Asia Cup 2022. First match will be played by the 20th August 2022. The Qualifiers will host by the Sri Lanka.  The Eastern Region Teams that will battle for their qualification are Singapore & Hong Kong. While the two teams that will battle from the Western Region are Kuwait & UAE. The winning team will be the sixth team to participate in the Asia Cup.
